At first, I thought the squeeze ball was broke or tube was kinked. The ball when you squeezed it would not make a noise or let the air out. But I did not give up on the pump every other day I would keep using the pump. The pump started to work a little bit better every time after two weeks or 7 uses I am now at 6" I am 68 and was afraid to buy a better pump for fear of popping a vessel and having a big problem. Remember to use lube to get a great seal.
